My Ra

Ra was a divine being
And so far I can’t find
Any evidence to support you’re not.

Some say he created us
Through sweat and tears
I’m not saying
You’ve done the same
Yet there are times
I’ve felt baptized in yours
Thought you were the only reason
The gods ever created human beings.

Ancient Egyptians often
Called themselves: “Cattle of Ra”
I’m not ashamed to say
You’re my shepherd
I’d follow you anywhere you lead.

Now, Ra is best known as a sun god
The ruler of both the Earth and sky
And, of course, it’s true you rule mine
But maybe you’re nothing like him
Because the way you shine
Blinds the light.

Gods how I’ve missed your poetry. Ra ra. 🎉🎉 Thank the heavens you’re back. 🔆 :)) Feeling “baptized” through witnessing or experiencing another being’s “sweat and tears”… I love that concept. Beautiful write.

Ra, Ra, Ra! For sure. Let’s praise the light of the world. Big thanks. Thanks for always having such nice things to say about my work. Hope you’re having a lovely day!

You’re welcome. :)) Yes let’s indeed. The dark is lovely and all, but the light must also have its say, and makes the day. :)) ☯️ To you and yours, hurray. 🙌💛🙌

I didn’t know who Ra was, I was still amused by the poem. By the end you revealed the mystery for me and it all made perfect sense, the last two lines was a strong way to complete the poem. Sounds like Divine love. Well written! 🙌

Thanks! Your take interests me greatly in that you came to it with a blank slate. Glad you still found some value/amusement/joy there. “Divine love”: I think I agree with your assessment. Thanks again!

Hi Benjamin, this is great!! And now the interesting part is – Egypt had been on my mind today (totally random thoughts related to Indiana Jones and Nefertiti. LOL). You are one mind-reading poet. :))

Bejamin, I’ve been meaning to tell you, but you have the most gorgeous poetry that reflects love. I usually get tired of reading so many things about love but your perspective is just amazing. I truly forward to all that you write. Keep up the brilliant work!

Thank you. Really, really, really! I totally get you’re feeling: who wants to always read another silly love poem? I think I avoided them for a long time with this thought in mind. But now I’m sure I’ll always just write another and another, since love doesn’t really ever go out style, after all, and you must follow the muse wherever it takes you. I’m glad for your appreciation and support! Have a lovely evening.
