Nominated: The Sunshine Blogger Award!

The Sunshine Blogger Award!

This is the Sunshine Blogger Award. My nomination comes by way of Grace Y. Estevez-Reddy. Please, please, follow her blog if you haven’t already and like and comment on your wonderful poetry. Always a joy to read her inspiring and positive words!

Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.

Questions for me:

  1. What is your proudest accomplishment?

The next one.

  1. What makes you laugh the most?

Inside jokes.

  1. If you met you, would you want to be your friend and why?

I don’t know if I would want to be my friend. But I do wonder what it would be like to be loved by me.

  1. What do you like most about yourself?

I’m losing my laugh lines. Because only I frown these days. (I’m joking. Not joking. Joking.)

Being serious, though. I look much cuter in person than pictures. I never can get the right angles or lighting to look like myself much. A curse and a blessing, perhaps.

  1. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Soft pretzels.

  1. If you can be anyone else in the world, who would you be or would you be yourself? (please explain)

I don’t want to be anyone else. I’d just be a better version of me.

  1. Who is your hero?

I don’t have any heroes, per se, but I admire a great many people who are free thinkers and create art dangerously.

  1. What motivates you most?

Haters. Negativity.

  1. What did you want to be when you were small?

Writer.

  1. If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Spend the day laughing with the person I love.

  1. Would you say you are resentful or can you let go of things easily?

I wouldn’t say I let go of things easily, but I don’t have any addictions whatsoever. Nevertheless, I am a very resentful person, but there are some caveats to it. If I am resentful toward you, that means you have hurt me hundreds of times (almost to the point that it seems you have no regard for human life) and I can no longer forgive or forget. I am very easy-going and it takes a lot to get me mad, like you have to literally walk all over me for like a year or more and then I might get angry. But if I’m mad at you I might never get un-mad. Ever. Even in the next life I might stay mad at you. Perpetually mad. Always. In fact, I’ll resent until the end of time and even after it re-begins. Yet, I really envy people who can let go of anger so easily. It’s a marvelous joy to find that. And a very respectful thing to do.

Note: The opinions expressed are solely my own and do not express the views or opinions of the writer of this blog.

I was born on Saint Patrick’s Day.

I dislike driving

I love eating soggy cereal.

My Answers To Ace’s Questions

  1. What does freedom mean to you? Everything good. But, at same time, there can be a danger in having too much freedom. Freedom allows for choice, however. And life is about choices. You always have to make a choice. Even not choosing is a choice.
  2. What’s one thing you do without thinking? Sing.
  3. Favorite childhood memory? Going to Disney World.
  4. If the whole world could hear you for three words, what would you say? We a family.
  5. Do you think perception or belief comes first? Both. I think it changes from situation to situation and person to person. And I think this David Bowie lyric sums it up (“Word On Wing”): “Just because I believe, don’t mean I don’t think as well”.

My Nominees: Some great blogs to check out if you’re looking for something new to read and follow.

1) Where do most visits to your blog come from?

As a kid it was American football. Then it was basketball. But now I’m not into sports as much as I once was.

3) What has been a special moment for you in 2020 so far?

Rediscovering my creative passions during the lockdown; and meeting new people. If any of them are reading this … they know who they are.

4) What is your favorite quote?

I have too many; I’m not even sure I can pick one. Plus, I mostly like song lyrics. But here a few I can think of right now:

“Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm” – Winston Churchill

“You’re on Earth. There’s no cure for that.” — Samuel Beckett

Almost any yogi-ism by Yogi Berra; these ones are funny:

“You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there.”

“If the world were perfect, it wouldn’t be.”

“We made too many wrong mistakes.”

“When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

Bertrand Russell:

“It’s easy to fall in love. The hard part is finding someone to catch you.”

“One of the painful things about our time is that those who feel certainty are stupid, and those with any imagination and understanding are filled with doubt and indecision.”

“Man is a rational animal. So at least we have been told. Throughout a long life I have searched diligently for evidence in favor of this statement. So far, I have not had the good fortune to come across it.”

Albert Camus:

“People hasten to judge in order not to be judged themselves.”

“I rebel; therefore I exist.”

“What is hell? I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love.” – Fyodor Dostoevsky

A “great mind must be androgynous.” – Samuel Taylor Coleridge

5) What was your favorite class when still at school?

None. I never had any favorite classes when at school. But my least unliked was English.

6) Anything you had wished to have learned earlier?

That it’s better to love too hard than to love too little; and that in the end almost everything ends up being all right, so don’t be afraid to go forward.

7) What musical instruments have you tried to play?

I first learned to play the drums as a kid. Then tried to teach myself guitar as a teenager (big failure). Then taught myself to play the piano, which was much easier.

Three Facts About Me

1. I prefer a rainy day to sunshine.

2. I usually never stop singing, and I don’t even have a very good voice. I might be louder when I’m by myself than when I’m in a crowd. And yet I’m actually a very quiet person.

3. I’m allergic to 6 of the 8 most common allergies: milk, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans.

My Best Post:

I haven’t a clue. The next one, I hope. However, I like one of these for now: Others; Long-Distance Relationships.

Questions:

What’s the best day of your life so far?

A day I didn’t realize was the best day of my life until it was over: the day I met the soul of my soul, the love of my love, my twin flame connection. Or perhaps the day she was born, but I didn’t know her then, or known that I would ever meet her, so I couldn’t have known that until now that that would be the best day.

What’s the most important thing Covid-19 taught you?

Don’t waste one second of the time you have with the ones you love.

If you had to spend one day as an inanimate object, what would you choose and why?

Her hairbrush, of course. Then I get to be in her hands everyday and run my bristles through her hair. I could be lipstick, too. Then I could be on her lips all day and look good as a bonus. But I would have to be the very best shade. Maybe a red. A color that never goes out of style.

Have you ever almost died? If so, share your story!

Yes, I probably should be dead. Starting in fall of 2016 and for about 3 years after that I couldn’t really eat food, due to an esophagus issue and a bad reaction to acid reflux medication. I dropped lots of weight and went down to 109 pounds even at one time. I mainly lived off of sunflower butter (which I had to put on everything and eat in spoonfuls), candy, and potato chips just to try and keep my weight from going down any lower. At times I wasn’t even able to sip more than a few sips of water a day. Not really sure how I managed to live through that, and I don’t recommend this diet to anybody. It was terrible. If you ever suffer from reflux just try some ginger first. Natural cures work!

Do you believe aliens exist?

It’s possible that they don’t exist?

1. When and why did you start writing? Probably third grade (maybe earlier but I don’t really remember.) And just to make a few of my friends laugh.

2. If you had a chance to time travel, would you visit the past or the future, why? I’d visit the future, of course. Although the past is tempting just to really know how it all began. However, it must be the future, because I would like to believe that the love of my life will be waiting there for me.

3. If you could live anywhere in the World, where would you? Doesn’t matter, really. Once you find the right person to spend your life with you’re always home.

6. Tell me about any one of your fears? Not heights, but falling from great heights.

7. Suggest a theme/idea you’d like me to write about? Magic.

9. What is success to you? Happiness.

10. How would you define happiness? Some configuration of love.

Nominated: Sunshine Blogger Award

The Rules:
• Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so others can find them.
• Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.
• Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.
• Notify the nominees about it by commenting on one of their blog posts.
• List the rules and display a Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or your blog site.

This is the Sunshine Blogger Award. My nomination comes by way of J. M. Lilin. Follow her blog if you haven’t already. She’s beyond amazing! But don’t take my world for it. Find out yourself.

Questions for me:

1. What author do you look up to most? Roald Dahl; he was the first novelist that actually made me care about reading books. But mostly I look up to artists in other mediums than writing.

2. Do you prefer to be alone or to be in the crowds? I prefer to be alone. Or in a crowd if I was holding the hand of the right person!

3. If you choose to have a special ability/super power, what would you choose? Teleportation. But like that movie Jumper or maybe just Nightcrawler from the X-Men maybe so I could see the one I love anytime I wanted, even if only for a moment here and there.

4. When you were younger, who did you want to grow up to be? Michael Jordan. Who didn’t want to stick out their tongue like that while dominating the competition? Or maybe … Jordan Knight, the lead singer of the New Kids On The Block (totally used to reenact “Baby I Believe In You” live video as a kid; watch that one from the 90’s) … or maybe … it changed from day to day.

5. Did you ever have an imaginary friend? No. Never. I had a poetic alter ego, however, but he rarely ever comes out now.

6. What fiction character do you feel like you relate to the most? Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh. If anyone wants to take these dark clouds from above my head, you’re welcome to.

7. What truly inspires you to write? Love in its many forms: the love of something (a person, music, art, etc.) I learned long ago you can find inspiration in anything. But for me it’s mostly the love of music which I find as my number one inspiration. Well, I shouldn’t say that. Really it’s always HER. Just HER maybe.

8. When it comes to writing, does the city or nature inspire you most? Nature. There’s much more beauty in natural-made things. If you want a cure for almost anything it’s already out there in nature. When did we forget that?

9. When did you start writing? The third grade (or maybe before). I wrote 100 pages of some story that had to do with my life living as rock.

10. Have you published or ever written a book? Written numerous books; most of them nobody has ever seen. I had one book published years ago. The Land Without Footprints: Shadows Amongst Shadows (2013).  It’s a fantasy novel about a world where there are no laws and only books have survived of Earth’s culture. Unfortunately it’s out of print, but maybe I’ll post the rest of it on this site soon … if I get around to it.

11. Would you rather read or write, and do you prefer nonfiction or fiction? I’d rather write when it’s going well and read when it’s not. I prefer fiction. But I have to read everything I can about history and philosophy and science and sociology and music and…. So, both are good.

Questions For My Nominees:

  1. What genre of music do you think your writing falls under?
  2. Do you prefer falling or landing?
  3. Would you take a one-way trip that landed you on Mars?
  4. What does your writing space look like?
  5. Did you like reading when you were young?
  6. What would you tell your younger self … if anything?
  7. Anything you care to share with the blogging world that you haven’t told already?
  8. Tell us your favorite place to travel or the place you hope to travel to next?
  9. What is next for you writing-wise?
  10. What’s your favorite thing to write: poetry, short stories, or novels?
  11. What novel would you choose to re-read for the rest of eternity?
