Taboo-Artist #3: Prince
Created a new sound*
While embracing an androgynous style
Then: changed his name
To an unpronounceable symbol
Enough said.
*The “Minneapolis sound” really highlighted synthesizers and the drum machine and transformed the sound of music forever. Prince was a true musical genius (talented and hard-working), who only did things one way: his way.
Upon Seeing You
A tolerant revolution began
The exact diameter of doubt
A product of the monster perhaps
Some confusion of steam
(Though young in me it was no child
Really just the oldest of old feelings)
The dismissal of which was temporary
Still Blushing
Unlikely explosion
Spontaneous heat
Gradual breakdown
A shadow of the innocent age
No Flight
Stress
Lean yourself on me
I’m formatted to convert you into s m o k e
On Discovering
Life is about push and pull
Give and take
Though perhaps the key
Isn’t to live above it
But rather to figure out
A way to live in-between
On Success
First:
Be thirsty for failure

Shaking up their normality
Signaling the writer’s psyche
Demanding a daily dose of encouragement
The bond sparked small
A distant curiosity sated by the choreography of words
A budding denial received confirmation in plain sight
An uncultivated heart given wings to ascend
An untamed mind flew over the boundary beyond the intellectual elasticity

Worked to “push beyond potential”
Enough said.
* The “Mamba mentality” really strives for greatness; perhaps even attempts to go beyond greatness to reach even higher heights. It’s about not giving up, about giving your all, about going toward something better, not worrying about what will happen next but what you can do now! Kobe was a modern-day philosopher, a creative genius. His passion for life will never be forgotten
