To Rule My World

You don’t need ocean eyes
or               sun-flecked hair.

Neither               a body soft
as a pillow         nor a smile
that lights up the night sky.

A figure that fits into an hourglass
A walk that sways the trees to fall

none of this is necessary.

To rule my world
it’s quite simple:

All you need to be is her.

This is so beautiful and so true. We want the one that embodies the divine for us. I love the form this poem takes, like a vessel with a few perfectly rounded breaks.

We live in a materialistic world. But truly the best things in life cannot always be seen; however, they can still be felt. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really really really appreciate it!

  4. It feels like a lullaby to calm the fragile mind. So soothing Ben.
