The Altar

My hands are full of
Yarn and needles
Needles and yarn

I don’t even know
How      to       knit

I’m learning, though
In case your feet get cold

Brilliant title for this piece…cold feet – the alter…..a sweet poem

This is beautiful! I love how you repeated “Yarn and needles / Needles and yarn.” Well penned!!

Thanks. Glad you picked up on that bit of repetition. It was intended to give a bit of the feeling of knitting, as there is a redundancy and rhythm to it, a back and forth. Thanks again!

This is really foot-warming and so sweet… but I’d say we’re in marriage forecast trouble if we have to wonder if our mate will get cold feet. Awesome YouTube vids out there to learn how to knit though! ;)). Like someone else commented here I loved the repetition in those lines. 😊👌

Haha. Thanks. “Foot-warming”: exactly. You’re very clever. You might be right. But let’s hope for warm weather for all newlyweds. Maybe I’ll try those videos. You knit?

“let’s hope for warm weather for all newlyweds” – how lovely is that?! Makes me smile. Thanks for the kind words and yes, I knit… and I did have to learn from books and vids since although my mom was an amazing textiles (hobby) artist, she did not like knitting, only crochet. But I wanted to be like those grannies in the cartoons with the two needles not just one haha.

Haha. Well, that’s awesome. Knitting is underappreciated. I wish I could do it, but for blankets. And you’re welcome.

Love this. Entering into something new, making that commitment, does feel a bit like juggling an unknown entity – you know the potential is there, if only you can figure out how to make it work.

  9. Short , to the point… very clever writing. Happens to many couples I guess 😊👌
