The bye never is
Good
The wave alone
Puts waves in my eyes
Will this be a parting?
Or
Will this be an end?
The bye never is
Good
I wish only to say goodbye
To goodbye.
The bye never is
Good
The wave alone
Puts waves in my eyes
Will this be a parting?
Or
Will this be an end?
The bye never is
Good
I wish only to say goodbye
To goodbye.

Amazing thought Ben. Saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do!
Thanks. It is. And even harder to say to the good people in your life.
I never understood the concept of goodbyes. I mean why is there a good attached to the “bye.” I love the way you have written this! Each sentence deeply resonates with me. β¨
So true. It should be bad-bye really. Or Just bye, which we have shortened it too often. I supposed it’s good-bye as in have a good day. But it seems rather wrong on some level to say it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do think there is a way to have a good goodbye. But then again that too becomes sad.
Thereβs a hello in every after goodbye ππ
Yeah. It’s nice to say hello most times. Hellos always start out pretty well no matter the situation.
Oh yeah. But Iβm not too good in goodbyes. Irony of life I guess
Well, maybe it’s not something to master too much, anyway. Better to master the art of hello!
I believe so π
Deep
Thanks.
There is a finality in goodbye… i don’t like it either. Bye, though, can be dealt with. Isn’t it? There’s an inherent promise of meeting again in it. Good piece…:))
Yeah, bye is a little easier. Goodbye feels a little more final. I see what you’re saying. Nice to have that promise to meet again, for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Always a pleasure Benjamin. π€π€ Have a great day. ππΎπΌπ€π
You too!
Another amazingly written poem! I prefer “See you later” over goodbye for this reason. The second stanza is awesome too. Love it!
Huge thanks! And yes, see you later feels a lot nicer, less sadness to it.
You’re welcome!
Lovely piece, Benjamin. I too am not a fan of goodbyes. I hope you find peace in yours π
Thanks, Katy. I hope so, too. π
Very relatable. Always love (and crave, if truth be told π¬) to see your poetry. Sometimes I feel we’re on the same wavelength. You express these feelings so well and succinctly. I love the French goodbyes: “au revoir” (“to the re-seeing”) and “adieu” (“to god”) (if they’re broken down literally/etymologically). Also Vulcan. That works for me as well. π
Those do seem much more lovely, especially the way you broke it down. I have a great appreciate for other languages; it’s interesting to see all the different ways you can say goodbye throughout history. Thanks for sharing the wavelength for a bit. Stay safe!
Thank you. Am aiming to. :)) And likewise. Enjoy the journey; ponder the origins of the Or that glitters along the way.
So true!
Thanks leaving some words; always a pleasure to see your thoughts!
I hate goodbyes, too. Maybe that’s why I try to convince myself that it will be the beginning of a new hello. It hurts less, I suppose. Love the emotions you put in this. Hopefully that goodbye is not a permanent goodbye and maybe a “Until we meet again” kind of situation. π
It’s a good way of seeing things. An ending always does lead to a new beginning, in fact. “Until’ we meet again’ kind of situation.” If the universe wills it, I hope it comes true. I like your perspective on this.
I have this belief that goodbye can mean change or a new journey. Whether itβs a sad or good goodbye, itβs welcoming new chapter in our lives.
That’s a optimistic way to look at things. A very positive outlook. “A new journey” feels less foreboding. Really like the way you added to the conversation. Gives me something to think about deeper.
I just try to look at the bright side of things as much as I can. Though it doesnβt happen in an instant. Acceptance should happen first. I hope it makes sense. ππ
That does make sense. Certain things in life must come in stages.
So true and I often find myself using words such as ”Take care” or ”See yeah” or ”Peace” rather than ”Goodbye” its like you said it can imply a parting or an end.
I see exactly what you mean. I think you showed there are many, many ways to say goodbye and perhaps goodbye is the worse of them in the end. It would be interesting if somebody wrote the history of hello and goodbye, and perhaps it’s already been done. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. “Peace” is good; “take care” as well.
This is good! ππ Byeee
Haha. Thanks! Bye, but see you soon.
β Have a good day β.
Thanks. You have a good day as well!
