We’ve never raised a voice
Nor slammed a door
Yet still we engage in these epic apology wars:
Saying sorry for nothing
That needs saying sorry for.
We’ve never raised a voice
Love the title
Thanks! Likewise. I came across these two words and knew I needed a poem called that.
You don’t say sorry or thank you to people who are truly your friends.
Apology wars .. epic post , Benji 😊
Thanks. You’re right. These social expectations become lesser in need with true loved ones, and perhaps it’s because we already know they are there, even in silence.
Great! Then is it truce?
Yes , a truce, for sure. Since it was never really war. Thanks.
Great one 😊
Thanks a lot!
Wow, there are so many layers to this, so many different reasons as to why they keep saying sorry. Is it out of insecurity or an all consuming desire to please? It is fear driven or out of consideration? Why would they say sorry for no reason? The possibilities are endless, which is why this is such an excellent write Ben. Although you will have you own understanding/backstory, you are leaving it up to the reader to fill in the blanks with their own interpretations.
I love how you interpreted this! I’m very intrigued by your reading of this, and you ask very wonderful questions. It seems right that the possibilities are open-ended. I guess I have my thoughts as to why they keep saying sorry but perhaps I should not say, and just leave it up to the readers. And maybe I’d be wrong in my understanding of it, anyway.
I like this – and a great title. 😀
btw If you’re British you are raised saying sorry every other word!! 😀
Thanks. Well, it’s a very proper and polite thing to do. But it’s not necessary to overdo it. Perhaps it loses a bit of its true value then.
Totally agree. 🙂
I honestly felt this one, I’m always saying sorry for everything even if it doesn’t make sense 😅
This is really well-written!!
It happens. I used to be the same way. But I grew out of it for the most part. Thanks in bunches!
That’s good! It does take time, but I’m glad you were able to see your growth. You’re welcome, have a great day!! 🙂
I really enjoyed reading this! Apology wars are a daily occurrence with some people in my life. Great post!
Thanks a million. As with anything apologies can be positive or negative. I hope you find yourself on the positive side of them more so than the opposite in the future.
I guess they are positive more often than not. So, thank God, for that!
Let me guess, the setting of this drama is in space? 🙂 That title won the war. 🙂
Haha. I wasn’t expecting that comment. It feels like a sign. Space is a good place for two lovers to be left alone with just each other, I think. Thanks for reading and leaving these words. Made my night 🙂
My pleasure 😀
Oh yes – well said.
Thanks for that!
