I’ve figured out
how to focus on
one thing at a time effortlessly
and also how to go weeks
without the need of food or sleep.
So, too, I’ve discovered
how to feel the winter
on a humid summer day
and even how to turn an hour
into one hundred thousand years.
It’s actually very simple—
very much free, as well:
just miss someone you love.
Awe, this is so beautiful! I get the feeling and needed this today. Your words are so alive and tap into my heart!! Marvelous work as always! Spirit hugs 🤗🤗
Thank you for all your nice words. Do have a great start to your week!
Of course and thank you! Same to you 🤗
This was unexpected and true.
Thanks, Alina!
🙂
Beautifully done, Benjamin. 💛
Thanks!!!
Powerfully written – you just capture the feeling so well. 🙂
Thank you. Glad you connected with this one!
🙂
You do write wonderfully poignant, and deceptively simple poems. Excellent.
Thank you.
Joanna
THANK YOU, Joanna! Always appreciate your thoughts.
Oh yes, missing the other half of you 💔 It is interesting and startling how much it impacts on every area of your life.
It can be totally heartbreaking, for sure, especially when the other half is the much better half. It’s no fun being incomplete. Thanks for leaving your thoughts 🙂
Love does have that effect on us.
It does. But I still love love.
Love definitely worth it!
Agreed, for sure!
Works for me 😔😉🖤
Awesome, glad it did 🙂
👍🖤
Ah…this is so true Ben and very well written. When you miss someone you love, each minute seems like eons!!
Yes, that’s exactly how it feels. Thanks!
Heartbreakingly beautiful, and all too relatable! Missing someone you love hurts the most. I hope you and that person are able to reconnect. Take care!
Thanks so much. In my heart we’re never apart. That helps somewhat. You take care, too.
The heart is the best place to be with others, sometimes. You’re welcome! 🙂
You capture feelings in a way that connects deeply with your readers. You strike me as a very deep and caring person. Wishing you every happiness as you continue to connect with your inner source power and shine your loving light around the world.
Thanks for you sweet comment. I hope words treat me better this year. And I hope your words/muse do the same to you; however, I’m sure you’ll have no problem producing wonders. Stay safe!
That is so kind, thank you… :)) I hope to do better with my words this year. I think we have to learn to choose our muse(s) and choose them wisely, ideally. Thanks again, and stay well and free!
Thats so true ! Its those moments when your tired/busy or away somewhere and you think of him/her and all of a sudden you get that extra step or time moves faster because you remember that endless feeling of love that at times feels unconquerable.
You’re right. It can happen like that. Love seems to be able to do the impossible at times, to actually almost conquer everything in a sense. “Unconquerable” is a good word. Perhaps it’s more about how love can’t be defeated than it defeating things. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Beautiful ❤️ true❤️
Thanks 🙂
Beautiful piece of art❤
Extra thanks!
You nailed it Benjamin.
Oh, thanks so much, Tara. Hope you’re having a lovely start to your year!
Thanks so much. I’m quite content.
You’re welcome. Glad to hear it!
Interesting way of looking at life, thank you for that idea. Love can keep us sane…
You’re right. Sometimes love is all we have, and all we need. Thanks a lot!
🤗🤗🤗.. Nice one, Benjamin. Made me think of my Gran! ❤️❤️💐🙏🤗
Thanks so much, Diana. Glad that reading this gave you a nice thought 🙂
Beautifully penned, Benjamin!
Thank you. Always appreciate your presence here! And your kind words!
My pleasure!
This is beautiful!
Thank you!
It’s my pleasure 😊
How wonderfully you finished it….lovely words…
Thanks, my friend!
Oh this is wonderful and your words ring so true Benjamin…that’s all it takes..a heart break..even if it’s not forever, will make you world spin the other way..
Your poetry is stunning, Benjamin! Thank you so much for following my blog.
Welcome. Always fun swinging by your blog!
This is such a great poem with an honest depiction of feelings and thoughts about love. Brilliant!
Thank you!
Distance is difficult but it makes your bond sharp and sturdy is what these lines remind me of, being in that position haha 🙂. Beautifully written!
Also, wanted you to know that me and my friend nominated you for the BLOGGER RECOGNITION AWARD on our latest post, hope you reply 😊💝
That’s very true. Distance doesn’t have to mean the ruin to any relationship; it can work to strengthen a bond. Thanks for the award! That’s very kind and special. Stay safe!
You deserve the nomination 🥂😉. Take care!
Really?
Wow so sweet of the person who would be missing someone.
Yes, really! Thanks 🙂
Welcome 🙂
Yeah correct…🖖 That’s one thing you can keep on doing. It pains. Yet feels pleasurable. 🙂
Yes, so right you are. It’s a sweet and sour feeling. Thanks again!
This is beautifully written, Benjamin. I am learning to focus on the now; it could be a single thing I focus on like the wind’s effect on a single strand of grass, and surprisingly, time becomes immense. I am not explaining it well, but your poem touches on that aspect, for me at least.
You are explaining it well! To live in the moment, for in reality the only thing we have is the present. Certain philosophies might say: we have a constant present, a long, distant past, and a short, unreachable future (that is always becoming the now). So the right here and now is what you can but all your effort into exploring. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Great exalanation.
Great explanation.
Thanks again 🙂
True indeed❤️😊.
Oh ! This is so heartfelt, Benji. Sigh ! Your heart is beautiful and she better come running.
Thanks. If she ever came running … it might be, in part, thanks to you! Thank again for all your beautiful comments. Stay safe out there!
You are welcome, Ben. Always here ..
You stay safe too. And I hope she is safe too.
Thanks. Super sweet. All things are good all the way around.
Hmmmm, I think you have hit a nail on it’s head with this. Absence does seem to slow the time mightily. Thanks for sharing!
So true. Absence can really effect us, in good and bad ways. But it’s best to try to focus on the positives whenever we can. Thanks again for reading and commenting. Nice to hear your perspective!
I love this. You are a quintessential poet 🙂
Thanks. And thanks 🙂 That really means a lot coming from someone as creative in so many mediums as you!
That’s very kind, Ben, thank you 💕 You’re so humble. I always enjoy your words. I just read your short stories, they were great. Especially the one about the leech. Subtly written but punchy and powerful👌
Well, it’s true. You really have a lot of talent, which it’s clear you’ve nurtured over the years. And thanks so much. “Little Gifts” is one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever written. But it is tinged with a bit of sadness as well. But still leaves room for hope. Thanks again!
Oh thank you, and ditto. I can’t write narratives, it’s a learning curve so it’s inspiring for me to read yours. It reminds me that you don’t need that many words to tell a powerful story. It is sad but but also real. I like the imagery of grit you portrayed. It made me want to know more which a good story always should. I’m glad I found it 💕👌
Yeah, flash fictions. You should try writing some. They’re quick and fun. The goal is to write as short as you can but still stay more. Thanks again!!!
Wishing you a most excellent weekend 😊☀️
Super. Thanks. You have a great weekend as well! 🙂
