Your love was something like a butterfly:
Beautiful one day
Dead the next.
Monthly Archives: August 2020
Hooked
You make
all the other
fish in the sea
look like sharks.
Doubling Time
So maybe I won’t be your
good morning or good night
Maybe I won’t be able to
bake you that birthday cake from scratch
or massage your favorite oil
into your hair or even paint your toenails
your favorite shade of sea green.
And maybe we won’t be able to cry together
or hold each other’s hands delicately, tenderly, tightly
when it really matters—when it really counts
Because maybe love doesn’t conquer everything
and that’s the real lesson, the real truth
hidden beneath our utopian relationship
But you know what?
I still believe our love has no half-life.
PB&J Relationships
When we met
Your brain was nutty
Mine was like jelly
It is no wonder that
Our relationship is toast

This is the Liebster Blogger Award. My nomination comes by way of Rishika Kakar. Follow this great blog if you haven’t already. Always something interesting to read there.
Questions for me:
1. When and why did you start writing? Probably third grade (maybe earlier but I don’t really remember.) And just to make a few of my friends laugh.
2. If you had a chance to time travel, would you visit the past or the future, why? I’d visit the future, of course. Although the past is tempting just to really know how it all began. However, it must be the future, because I would like to believe that the love of my life will be waiting there for me.
3. If you could live anywhere in the World, where would you? Doesn’t matter, really. Once you find the right person to spend your life with you’re always home.
4. If you could be anything and anyone you wanted, who/what would you be? Just myself and a husband to her; is there any better thing to be in this world than a spouse to the right person?
5. Describe yourself in 3 words. Something worth saving.
6. Tell me about any one of your fears? Not heights, but falling from great heights.
7. Suggest a theme/idea you’d like me to write about? Magic.
8. Tell me about any one of your fears? Creatures with too many legs. “A 19th-century Tibetan poet warned his fellow Buddhists, ‘if you enjoy frightening others, you will be reborn as a centipede.’”
9. What is success to you? Happiness.
10. How would you define happiness? Some configuration of love.
11. Favourite movie/TV series/Documentary? Favorite: no idea. But, Into The Badlands was an underrated show. Nextflix that one.

My Nominees:
Have a look at these wonderful blogs!
Callings
I grew up down the street
From a seminary
A very spacious place
Sprawling buildings
Acres of green
Fences all around and tennis courts
Something almost like a fairy tale
But that’s not really the point
I’m about to go there now
Not to admire the beauty
But to enlist my soul
To another kind of heavenly devotion
This might sound trite
But if I can’t have you
I’d prefer to stay unloved
How could I ever move on
With anyone who doesn’t
Have your name?
Your face?
Your voice?
I swear, only God could compare.
Deeper Meaning (Song Lyrics)
[Intro]
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (4x)
[Verse 1]
Been in love since before I even saw your face
I didn’t know your name, I didn’t know your ways
But I knew I was for you
I just knew I was for you
So I fell in love when I saw your face
And now I know your name, and now I know your ways
I knew I was for you
I knew I was for you
[Chorus]
A deeper meaning to your heart beating next to me
A deeper meaning to your hands when you’re touching me
A deeper meaning to your lips when they’re pressed on me
A deeper meaning to your love is what I believe
A deeper meaning to your heart beating next to me
A deeper meaning to your arms when you’re holding me
A deeper meaning to your thoughts when they rest on me
A deeper meaning to our love is what I believe
[Outro]
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (4x)
Empty Throne (Song Lyrics)
[Verse 1]
I was torn in two
When you left that day
Was I forcing you
To always stay?
I had no clue
You would run away
Is there another one
Or another day?
[Chorus]
Your throne is empty
But I still got your crown
Your throne is empty
But I’m waiting around
Your throne is empty
But I’m staying in town
Just in case
You come back around
[Verse 2]
We were split in two
When you left that day
Were you thinking you
Always had to stay?
You must’ve had a clue
You could walk away
You didn’t have to
Run away
[Chorus]
Your throne is empty
But I still got your crown
Your throne is empty
But I’m waiting around
Your throne is empty
But I’m staying in town
Just in case
You come back around
Just in case
You come back around (4x)
[Ad lib]
Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Oh, oh, oh!
[Instrumental Outro]
Faraway Truths
I’ve never really, really shared the truth of
How much I miss you when you’re absent
Because it couldn’t ever fit the length of a text:
The space needed is the size of an encyclopedia
The Altar
My hands are full of
Yarn and needles
Needles and yarn
I don’t even know
How to knit
I’m learning, though
In case your feet get cold
